West Shore Road Accident in Warwick, Car vs. Bicyclist

Warwick, RI- On On Tuesday evening on June 11, 2024 at 9:31pm Warwick officers were dispatched to the area of West Shore Road and Yates Ave for the report of a car vs bicyclist crash.

Police arrived to find a 58 year old male on the ground in the parking lot of the Shell Gas Station who had been struck by a SUV. The male appeared to be unresponsive. Warwick EMS personnel transported the male to Kent Hospital with CPR in progress. EMS and hospital staff were successful in regaining a pulse and the male was transferred to
RI Hospital in critical condition.

The Warwick Police Department Traffic Units’ Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the crash.

Based off the initial investigation, it was learned that a white Chevy Traverse operated by 61 year old Warwick resident had been travelling eastbound on West Shore Rd and was making a left turn into the entrance of the Shell Gas Station at 2211 West Shore Rd, when a bicycle, operated by the male travelling westbound collided with the Traverse and was thrown from the bicycle.

The operator of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors. This is an active investigation. No charges are pending at this time.

The Warwick Police Traffic Units’ Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the crash and is leading the investigation.
